With no bells and whistles, and the obligatory press release a couple of Australian sites let the proverbial “cat out of the bag” with details on the Lumia 1320 coming down under. Carriers, the big three, an actual date, being the 4th of February, and an outright price of [if I recall correctly, sadly cannot fact check ] approx $449AU. Of course news like this cannot be hidden for long and simple Google search chops do reveal links to… Gizmodo and News.com.au, but at this point both articles are sadly missing. Can you say Oops!
Now the 1320 is like the poor relative of the 1520, with specs and pricing that are sure to open a tight Aussie wallet, and the size to boot. It has that 6 inch, clear black, IPS display, making it a perfect device for media consumption. Phablet [there’s that word again] sized devices seem to be in after all, or is it a little 2013? The biggest deal is that the phone comes with a 1.7Ghz Qualcomm snapdragon processor, 1 Gb of ram, and 8Gb of built in storage, that’s where the budget comes into it. It is expandable via SD card, adding a maximum of 64Gb, but it’s only packing a 5 mega pixel camera.
Obviously the 1320 isn’t going to be for everyone, but it brings the opportunity for those that want a windows phone experience in a larger device to, by the looks of it Telstra, Optus and Vodafone AU at a very affordable price. Following the successful Nokia ploy to have a device that fits in every budget.
