Well the leaks are coming thick and fast now, and the Lumia 1520, running the GDR3 update, with Nokia’s Bittersweet Shimmer, is starting to feel like an old friend. More importantly the more we see the more features we become privy to, and it looks like the Phablet [damn, that is an awful word, name] is a megalith in terms of size and expected/confirmed features. Last night The Verge received a slew of new images via a reader, there’s not going to be much left to show when the real announcement comes, supposedly at the end of September.
The 1520, this time is strutting it’s stuff alongside the Sony Xperia Z1, a which in itself is not a small handset. Some calculations being done by the boffins conclude from the comparison shots that the 1520 dimensions come in somewhere close to 166mm x 85mm and the screen at a diagonal of 154.7mm [6 3/32 inches in the old scale].
The Verge reader that submitted the shots claims the device has 2GB of RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 6-inch 1080p display, 32GB of storage, and an SD slot. Also that the camera hump is very similar in design to the Lumia 925, but speculation on what the camera actually is, same lens and setup as the 925?, a scaled down version of the 1020’s 41mp shooter coming in at 20 mp, is still rife. One of the more interesting shots is of the matching Sim and SD card holders, no removable back for the phablet.
Again though without an official announcement all the specs are a little vague, but hey, it get’s everyone excited right. There’s a huge amount of shots in the gallery at the Verge, head on over and have a look. Nokia’s free pre promotion engine is certainly going into overdrive, is the company going out with a bang or a whimper?
