If you don’t see the prompt to update yet…

Make sure your “Get Windows 10” Window look like this:

save copy

And then just keep waiting.

I got the prompt to update on my Surface Pro 3 at 11:52pm on July 28th, and had Windows 10 up and running on July 29th at 12:10am.

Let the #WinPhan community know if your installation has started! Let’s celebrate this day together.

Update: if you still don’t have the notification to upgrade, you can force it to here: http://venturebeat.com/2015/07/28/how-to-force-windows-to-start-downloading-the-windows-10-update-files/

Update 2: a better method is to go to the Windows 10 download page and use the Microsoft tool to get the update manually (note: make sure you download the correct version of the downloader tool. In Windows 7, right click “Computer” and go to properties, in Windows 8.1, right click the start button and select “System” to see if your system’s OS is 32 bit or 64 bit). http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Update 3: If you have a PC with an NVIDIA graphics card, be sure you have the most recent drivers available: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/84889/en-us
